New Executive Director Tom Baker

North Hills Community Outreach has selected Tom Baker as the organization’s new Executive Director.

For more than 30 years North Hills Community Outreach has addressed the needs of people in crisis, hardship and poverty in Northern Allegheny County. The community and interfaith based organization offers more than 20 free services, some of which include; food pantry, education assistance, employment services, transportation assistance and emergency financial assistance.

“An extensive search and review process using the excellent services provided by and resources available through Nonprofit Talent allowed us to select the best candidate for NHCO. Tom Baker’s extensive background in the nonprofit arena, his extensive network of people on all levels, his collaboration skills and his passion for the mission of NHCO led the search committee to selecting Tom as the next Executive Director of NHCO,” said James Giel, NHCO Board Member.

Tom is currently Chief Community Affairs Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, and previously served as Vice President of Programs at the organization. He also serves on Allegheny County Council, representing District 1. He will not be running for re-election so he can focus more on his duties at NHCO.

Tom and his wife Erin have been married since 2004 and live in Ross Township with their daughter Lila June Baker.  He will begin as NHCO’s Executive Director on October 19.

“For the last decade NHCO has played a big role in my life and I have thoroughly enjoyed and been inspired by my experiences as a board member and volunteer. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to help guide the future of NHCO as Executive Director. NHCO is one of the most impactful, essential, and important organizations in our region and I am thrilled for this chance to work with the staff, board, volunteers, donors, and community partners to help NHCO make even more of a positive difference in our region. Through expanding awareness of NHCO, increasing our partnerships, and developing new funding streams we will be able to increase the already very impressive total of volunteers, households served, and overall services provided.
