Transportation Assistance Program
Lack of reliable transportation can be a barrier for individuals seeking employment, getting to/from work, and it can limit employment opportunities.
NHCO Transportation Assistance is targeted to support and stabilize a person's job, and in some cases their education and/or re-training goals. Income from steady, sustainable employment is required to apply to this program. Interested applicants must document that gross monthly household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level and live in one of NHCO's pre-approved zip codes.
Assistance may include financial help for:
Car repairs
Gas cards
Port Authority CONNECT Cards
Insurance payments
Loan payments less than 60 days late
PennDOT Services
AAA memberships
Car seats.
Eligibility:
Reside within Allegheny County in the geographical areas served by
Household gross monthly income must be 200% or below the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines

NHCO’s Transportation Assistance Program does not offer physical rides to individuals. However NHCO does offer services to older adults such as Free Rides for Seniors or In Service of Seniors that might be of assistance to individuals 60+ with physical rides, or resources for rides.
NHCO’s Transportation Assistance program is funded through the sale of donated vehicles, and in whole or in part by a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) from the Federal Department of Health and Human Services under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development. The Allegheny County Department of Human Services administers local CSBG funding.
