Donate Your Car or Vehicle and help hundreds of families a year through North Hills Community Outreach’s Transportation Assistance program!

Your donation will help people in your community meet and overcome transportation challenges, and help them with access to jobs, critical appointments, child care and more.

The process is simple!

  1. Donate your car – Pickup or towing is free

  2. We sell it at auction

  3. 100% of the money from the sale of vehicle (after fees) helps people with transportation needs such as:

  • Car repairs Driver’s license/PA Registration renewal

  • One-time car loan or insurance payment

  • AAA membership

  • Port Authority Connect Card

  • Rideshare gift card (Lyft, Uber)

  • Car seats

  • Assistance with down payments on a vehicle purchase

How does the program work?
Please fill out this form or call Dan at 412-487-6316 x 3225 to donate your vehicle. When the information is complete, it is forwarded to the tow company. They will call you directly to schedule the pick up. At the time of the pick up, the driver will give you a receipt for taking the vehicle. We ask that you give the driver the keys and your appropriately signed title.

As a donor, what do I need before I can donate?

  • A clear, notarized title with your name listed in the owner’s section, and without an assignment or transfer to another person. All liens must be released prior to donating the vehicle.

  • Your car keys.

  • When you call or fill out our online form, please have the title and current mileage in hand.

Do I pay for the towing?
No, there is no charge to you for the towing.

How long will I have to wait before my vehicle is picked up?
Typically, your vehicle will be picked up in 2-4 business days. The towing company will contact you in advance to schedule the pick up.

Will I receive a tax deduction for my donation?
The IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction of:

  • The value of your vehicle up to $500

  • The amount we sell your vehicle if sold for more than $500

What do you do with the vehicles?
The vehicles are taken to an auction and sold to the highest bidder.

Where do the proceeds go?
100% of the net proceeds are distributed to North Hills Community Outreach.

NHCO’s Transportation Assistance program is funded through the sale of donated vehicles, and in whole or in part by a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) from the Federal Department of Health and Human Services under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development. The Allegheny County Department of Human Services administers local CSBG funding.
