Services for Older Adults
North Hills Community Outreach offers a variety of services that help older adults in our community live healthy and safe with dignity at home.
In Service of Seniors: North
This program helps older adults in northern Allegheny County age 60 and older live healthy and safe with dignity in their homes through volunteer-based practical supports. There are NO income restrictions and services are free.
Before services can begin, a North Hills Community Outreach coordinator must conduct an in-home visit. Once that is completed, we ask for one week’s notice on all transportation or other service requests.
Services are provided by trained, qualified, supportive volunteers who are required to have criminal background and personal reference checks.
In Service of Seniors services include:
Rides to medical appointments, grocery stores and other errands
Home safety checks
Yard work such as raking leaves (no lawn mowing)
Shoveling snow
Friendly home visits
Telephone reassurance calls
Transportation on our Free Rides for Seniors Shuttle along the Route 28 corridor.
ACCESS 65+ -NHCO North Boroughs is an ACCESS 65+ sign-up site. Any senior 65 or older who needs to sign up for the ACCESS transportation program can visit NHCO North Boroughs office to fill out the paperwork instead of going to downtown Pittsburgh.
