Creative Fundraising – An Innovative Way to Support NHCO

Memorial Park Church holds an annual high school musical revue where the audience can donate food. Vincent, a teenager in the North Hills, is organizing a relay race where the cost to participate goes to NHCO. Kids (and adults!) can join in on supporting NHCO by hosting a lemonade stand, a neighborhood food drive or even by crafting small gifts for our clients.

NHCO supporters have a variety of ways to fundraise, both monetary and nonmonetary. One approach is creative fundraising, which often involves an art, craft, theater, or sports theme

Recently, about 30 members of the Bellevue Elementary Kindness Club spent an afternoon putting together spring pots to be delivered to older adults in the In Service of Seniors Program. Each pot comes with wildflower seeds, dirt, a butterfly plant poker, and a planting pot.

"I like helping people, but I don't really have a chance to do it cause I don't have a lot of materials at my house," a club member said while surrounded by bright paper, vibrant markers and colorful pipe cleaners. Laughter lofted in the air while she and her fellow students created gifts for people they do not know and will probably never meet.

"I think it's so great that they choose to come to this and participate and help our community and school," said Katie, a kindergarten teacher at the school. "I think it's a beautiful thing to start at their age."

Sharon, Bellevue Elementary Kindness Club Advisor, organized the event. She got the idea from her own innovative thinking, with a little inspiration from Pinterest.

Do you have an idea for a creative fundraiser? We want to hear about it, no matter how crazy you think it is.
