Did you know that SNAP benefits cannot be used to purchase personal care items or toiletries? These items are a necessity, but can be an extra expense that many low-income families cannot afford.
NHCO accepts personal care items and toiletries throughout the year so that families who use our pantries may select items. In late March, NHCO holds a Personal Care Items collection so that we can provide each family with a bag of personal care items and toiletries.
Suggested items include shampoo, soap and shower gel (unscented is best), body lotion (unscented is best), feminine hygiene products, shaving cream and disposable razors, toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes, washcloths or shower poufs, and lip balm.
Personal care items and toiletries donations are accepted year round and are especially needed in March and April.
Please be sure to fill out a donation slip when you drop off your items…not only does the slip serve as a thank you and for your tax record, but it is extremely important for our record keeping!
