North Hills Community Outreach has been extremely busy helping families in need recover from the early July floods. All of the assistance has been possible because of generous donors and volunteers like you.
A MARC (Multi-Agency Resource Center) was held in Millvale on June 12. At the MARC, 166 flood-affected attended and NHCO distributed initial financial assistance totaling $13,615. There is still much to be done and people are still calling for help!
NHCO disaster cleanup volunteers cleaned and sanitized several homes in O’Hara and continue to assess, clean out, and sanitize homes in Millvale, Shaler and Reserve.
So far NHCO has placed 40 dehumidifiers in homes to aid in drying out. As of July 23, NHCO has provided services in one form or another (varying from assessment to full clean-outs) 264 homes affected by flooding.
An estimated 50+ residents or families – many of whom are seniors — still need assistance with cleaning and sanitizing their basements so they can move ahead with their daily lives. If you can volunteer for a few hours during the daytime please call 412-408-3830, ext 3218.
