Seniors Stay Social through Virtual Senior Academy
The Jewish Healthcare Foundation has developed a program called Virtual Senior Academy. NHCO’s In Service of Seniors program is partnering to help seniors get online, enrolled and engaged with the program.
This is an interactive program providing informative classes and activities using an online platform. The program offers classes on a variety of topics, from Managing Your Blood Pressure to Creating a Glass Blown Vase; from Chair Yoga to a Virtual Tour of the Warhol Museum.
There is no cost for the program or the classes. The volunteers help get the seniors acquainted with logging onto the classes, and follow up with the seniors to ensure they are able to access the system on their own. The volunteers can even take the classes along with the senior!
Virtual Senior Academy is designed to connect seniors with their peers through video conferencing technology from the comfort of their own residence or community setting.
The program allows seniors to stay socially and intellectually engaged, expand their social networks, and foster creativity and life-long learning. For more information, please contact Nancy Jones
