NHCO is proud to operate three food pantries in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh (Allison Park, Millvale and Bellevue), providing food to nearly 700 families each month. We are a member agency of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
A trip to our pantry (once a month) provides approximately five days worth of food, so it is supplemental to a family or individual’s normal grocery order. Senior citizens may qualify for extra food through Senior Commodities.
Our pantries are stocked with nonperishable food such as canned vegetables and fruit, beans, rice, cereal, pasta, peanut butter and tuna, and we almost always offer bread, fruits and vegetables, often fresh from our organic, community garden. We also accept produce from donors’ gardens. If available, meat and cheese is also distributed. Cleaning supplies, personal care items and paper products are also available.
Gluten Free: We are one of only six food pantries in the Pittsburgh area with a gluten-free section set aside for those who need gluten-free food due to a medical condition.
